PM Modi to Inaugurate World-Class India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) and New Metro Station in Dwarka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), named YashoBhoomi, in Dwarka, Delhi on September 17, 2023. He will also dedicate the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25.


The operationalization of YashoBhoomi at Dwarka is expected to bolster PM Modi's vision of having a world-class infrastructure for hosting meetings, conferences, and exhibitions in the country.

Key highlights of YashoBhoomi

  • YashoBhoomi is a state-of-the-art and modern convention and expo centre built on an area of over 1.8 lakh square metres, with a total project area of over 8.9 lakh square metres.
  • The exhibition hall of YashoBhoomi is one of the biggest in the world, covering a total area of 1.07 lakh square metres. It will be used to host trade shows, business events, and exhibitions.
  • The auditorium has a seating system equipped with one of the most cutting-edge automatic ones, which enables various styles and forms of seating arrangements. The wooden floor and acoustic wall panels promise to add to the visitor's experience.
  • The Grand Ballroom can accommodate as many as 2,500 people. Additionally, there is a sizable open area with 500 seats.
  • YashoBhoomi has high-tech security provisions in place.
  • The mega expo centre has over 3,000 parking spots in its underground parking facility and additionally more than 100 electric charging points.
  • With the opening of the brand-new metro station "Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25," the centre will also be connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line.

Extension of Delhi Airport Metro Express line

The new metro station will have three subways:

  • A 735-meter-long subway that connects the station to the convention centre, Central Arena, and exhibition halls.
  • Another subway that connects the entry/exit across the Dwarka Motorway.
  • A third subway that connects the Metro station to the foyer of the upcoming Yashobhoomi exhibition halls.

Additionally, Delhi Metro would shorten travel times by increasing the operating speed of Metro trains on the Airport Express Line from 90 to 120 km/hr. It will take roughly 21 minutes to travel from "New Delhi" to "Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25."
